Sir Rennos Kevale, Knight Commander
Physical Appearance
Sir Rennos Kevale, a 35-year-old knight commander, has tanned skin, close-cropped blonde hair, and a groomed beard. His sharp features are accentuated by a tiny scar across his left brow and striking blue eyes.
Background
Rennos was born into a modest aristocratic family in Trinsic and sent to the elite Silver Serpent order for chivalry training at the age of seven. Throughout his boyhood, he squired under the tutelage of the valorous Sir Percival Thurlin, who extensively taught young Rennos in chivalric norms and fighting skills. Rennos’ inherent aptitude with a blade and strict devotion to protocol earned him an early knighthood at the age of 18. Rennos rose to prominence during the next decade, fighting mountain trolls and spearheading Silver Serpent attacks against buccaneer assaults around Britannia’s southern beaches. His bravery and cleverness in small unit tactics gave him an enviable reputation inside the order, and he was frequently called upon to lead a variety of difficult operations throughout his career. Rennos was appointed Knight Commander of a battalion of lances in the newly created Green Company chapter after years of impressing his commanders with logistical skills, discipline, and leadership.
Personality Traits
Rennos is a strict follower of rules and hierarchy. He uses formal address in general, referring to people by title and surname unless otherwise requested. Rennos sees things through the perspective of procedure and strategic planning, evaluating his strict values against military realities.
Behaviors & Relationships
Rennos’s behaviors and relationships are often impersonal and focused on duty above companionship. He judges troops based on their effectiveness and honesty rather than their personality. Those who impress him by successfully carrying out commands frequently become confidantes despite differences. Rennos avoids carousing during downtime, feeling that officers should set a good example.
Motivations & Goals
Rennos is determined to demonstrate that he is capable of handling the enormous responsibility that comes with his abrupt elevation. He aspires to be a model commander by bravery, foresight, and honor. Rennos craves excursions to confront increasing threats to the land, where he can pit his combat skills against the forces of evil.
Complexity
Rennos secretly fears that his quick rise was due to convenience and expedient need rather than true merit. He overcompensates by requiring complete obedience from his command. Rennos rarely delegates chores, even when they are appropriate, since he is afraid of appearing uninformed or reliant on others.
Secrets
Rennos is tormented by a failed night raid five years ago when his reluctance to attack without complete intelligence led to an ambush. A dozen honorable soldiers perished. He has never truly forgiven himself.
